Always On does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data. The app is designed to work entirely on your Mac.
Data we collect
None. Always On collects no analytics, no tracking identifiers, no advertising data, and no usage data that leaves your Mac. There are no accounts, and no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services are embedded in the app.
Network access
The app has no network access. It does not contact any server, including ours. It uses no web services and no cloud sync. The only exception is when you deliberately tap a link — such as the "Rate Always On" button — which opens the App Store or your browser, outside the app.
On-device storage
Always On stores the following in its sandboxed container on your Mac, and nowhere else:
- Your settings and preferences
- Any profiles you create
- A local history of sessions — start time, end time, duration, and how each session ended — used for the Statistics window
You can erase the session history at any time using Clear History in the Statistics window. Deleting the app removes everything else with it.
App detection
If you enable context features — such as video call, recording, or presentation detection — Always On checks which applications are currently running, using standard macOS APIs. This happens entirely on your Mac, is used only to decide whether to keep the display awake, and the result is never recorded or transmitted.
Calendar access (optional)
If you enable calendar-based activation, Always On asks permission to read your calendar via EventKit, so it can tell whether an event is about to start. It reads only event timings, it never modifies your calendar, and no calendar data is stored or transmitted. This permission is entirely optional and the app works fully without it. You can revoke it at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.
Notifications (optional)
Always On sends local notifications — session reminders, auto-off warnings, and optional wellness prompts. These are generated on your Mac and delivered by macOS; no push server is involved and no notification content leaves your device. You can turn them off at any time in System Settings → Notifications.
Children's privacy
Always On collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be published on this page with an updated date. Because the app collects nothing, substantive changes are unlikely.
